The birth of Milli in 2012 was a labor of love, inspired by a single goal: to create a community space where people of all walks could gather together around the intoxicating tastes and smells of the world’s greatest libation: coffee. This vision later expanded to include not only coffee, but wine, teas, and authentic Liege-Style Belgian waffles that helped created a close-knit Milli family with diverse tastes.
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Milli now finds itself in the care of owner William Moreno. Moreno's extensive career in the coffee industry brought him to Milli in 2021 as the shop's in-house roaster; after a year of sharpening his skills in the roastery he decided to take on another task: ushering Milli into a new era that honors its original vision. Now, Moreno and his team are working to bring this beloved Charlottesville institution back to its roots - and expand our coffee selections to bring new members into the Milli family. Although the fate of Milli has been in flux many a time in the last decade, we press on into these tumultuous times more determined than ever to keep joy and community alive in our little corner of Charlottesville. Our customers are the heart and soul of everything we do, and we are endlessly grateful that we can continue to serve you today. |
Milli hit a major landmark in November of 2015 when we opened our in-house small batch roastery. Roasting in-house gives us the flexibility to create unique flavor profiles and play around with exciting single origin coffees, which in turn gives you a custom coffee experience with every sip! Our bean varietals come from a vast range of South & Central American and African nations, and we are dedicated to sourcing organic and Fair Trade coffees whenever possible.
Our retail beans are available for sale in-store and online, and new roasts are always being developed! |
